The second most common reason is that your child is not answering to the question with the right answer structure, specific to what the question is asking for. There are specific question keywords to look out for in the questions (e.g. identify, name, state, describe, explain, why, etc) to understand what the question is asking for.

In internal examinations, the school teacher would have the discretion to accept alternate answer. Given the huge workload of teachers, most teachers would very much prefer it when students use the right keywords to make their marking smoother.

During PSLE, there is a process for markers to raise and discuss possible alternative answer. Again that means an additional step for the markers.
